Benevolence Services
This office facilitates a more effective benevolence ministry for churches in Lawrence and its surrounding communities.
The center screens and evaluates the benevolence needs of applicants, provides information on social service offerings and resources in the community, steers applicants to needed social service destinations, and may provide needed direct financial support as funds permit.
The center then monitors the applicants' situations on an ongoing basis and provides follow-up support as appropriate. The center attempts to express the love of Jesus through practical and financial help as well as through explanation of God's love and His ways for people, encouraging those needing help to seek God's purposes, plans, and solutions for their lives.
Benevolence funds are provided from churches in the community who recognize the value of a fully operational center that can perform benevolence screenings effectively and efficiently and offer clients a compassionate, caring, and knowledgeable helping hand.
In addition to financial resources, the benevolence ministry also maintains a storeroom for donated household items that can be given to people in needs.
